Below you
will find the release notes for CWIPanel ranging from the release of the product
to the current release version 1.55.
- NEW: Using internal IP addresses is now supported in CWIPanel. When adding IP addresses to the server, you can specify an internal IP address (such as 192.168.1.* or 10.0.0.*) which will be used when setting up the website.
- FIXED: The DNS server code has been completely rewritten, and is now more robust and reliable. In addition, Simple DNS Plus installations now require the use of the HTTP utility built in to Simple DNS Plus. The utility is enabled by default, so no changes should be necessary.
- FIXED: Adding an IP address to only the CWIPanel database and not to the server itself could result in an error.
- FIXED: Several formatting problems when deleting IP addresses.
* NOTE: A
new DLL component has been added to CWIPanel as of version 1.5 -
CWIPanelMaster.dll, replacing the previous CWIPanel.dll. The update utility will
attempt to install and register the component; if you receive an error, run the
following command from a command prompt:
REGSVR32 "C:\Program Files\CWIPanel\bin\CWIPanelMaster.dll"
If you have installed CWIPanel into a different directory, please specify the
correct location instead.
- Various bugfixes have been made to the CWIPanel
Configuration Utility, allowing for a more seamless initial install.
- Fixed an error when a license retrieval error occurred
on installations running MySQL as their main database.
- Fixed various errors regarding statistics setup and
installation.
- Fixed a bug in deleting Microsoft SQL Server databases.
- The following fixes and updates are from the range
August 2003 – December 2004.
- It is now possible to disable the use of the mail
server, DNS server, FTP server, and FrontPage extensions when setting up the
server, in the event you do not need these for your hosting setup.
- You can now clear an SQL Server database's transaction
log from the customer control panel.
- SQL Server and MySQL databases can now be resized from
the customer control panel.
- Deleting an account with a currently active SQL Server
database, or a reseller containing such an account, generated an error.
- Deleting SQL Server databases with active users only set
the database to single-user mode.
- Modifying DNS records with wildcards did not parse the
record properly for the editor.
- Log files were set to default IIS settings and not the
settings specified in the CWIPanel configuration.
- AWStats was not updating properly due to problems in the
statistics update daemon and errors in the log files setup (noted above).
NOTE: Fixing this will require changing log files configurations for all
sites, which should be done when upgrading to CWIPanel v1.3. You will be
prompted to do so when you upgrade from the reseller panel.
- Deleting a MySQL database caused problems in certain
circumstances.
- Creating a MySQL table with an auto-increment field was
not working properly.
- FIX: Fixed a bug with deleting SQL databases.
- FIX: All problems with Webalizer should now be fixed,
and all sites should have updated statistics through at least August 7th.
- FIX: Fixed a bug when removing Website Redirection from
a site.
- UPDATE: This panel will now refer to account types as
Reseller Packages, and to packages as Customer Packages.
- FIX: Fixed a minor bug in creating mail users with large
mailbox sizes.

mainstyle style.
- FIX: Fixed a minor bug in deleting accounts that had SQL

as both SQL Server and MySQL are accessed there.
- FIX: Fixed a problem with mailbox sizes causing errors
in the e-mail user administration.
- NEW: Statistics are currently being modified to use
Webalizer, which we have found to be much more reliable and less
server-intensive. The changeover should be done by the end of the day.
- FIX: Extended domain name input box lengths to 71
characters to allow for extremely long domain names.
- NEW: MySQL databases are now available! You can enable
these for your customers from the Modify Package area. NOTE: MySQL database
size is not currently reported due to limitations in Windows MySQL. We are
currently working on the problem.
- NEW: Updated the FAQ with information on connecting to a
MySQL database.
- NEW: Added instructions on setting up e-mail for
Netscape 7.
- NEW: When updating billing information or other
pages requiring credit card numbers, your credit card's CVV2 number is now
required for processing.
- FIX: Fixed a bug with updating billing information
for delinquent accounts.
- NEW: Websites and subdomains can now be redirected to
another URL. To enable this for your customers, go to Modify Package, choose
the customer package, and check the box next to "Website Redirection".
- NEW: Customer trouble tickets can be disabled on a
per-package basis. To disable this for your customers, go to Modify Package,
choose the customer package, and uncheck the box next to "Customer Trouble
Tickets".
- NEW: You can now set up statistics for subdomains.
- FIX: Fixed several very minor bugs throughout the panel.
- COMING SOON: MySQL!
- FIX: Fixed a bug with the bandwidth calculation
that caused errors in the panel.
- NEW: You can now choose from two different control
panel styles. In order to enable this for your customers, go to Modify
Package, choose the customer package, and check the box next to "Change Panel
Style".
- FIX: Made some changes to the way serial numbers
are generated for DNS records.
- NEW: You can now create a default page when creating new
accounts. You can modify the contents and name of the default page from the
Modify Default Page link in the reseller control panel.
- FIX: Fixed a bug in customer tickets that caused an
error when submitting a new reply, although the reply went through.
- FIX: Fixed a minor bug in the trouble ticket
notification.
- NEW: The basic information for your reseller
account is displayed in the menu now, including account name, space used,
bandwidth used and open trouble tickets.
- FIX: A trouble ticket notification email will now
specify the Reseller ID that the responding account is part of, as well as the
URL to log in to the reseller panel for that Reseller ID.
- FIX: Renamed domains now will retain trouble tickets
from the previous domain.
- NEW: List Accounts has added functionality; it will now
display pages of data rather than all data at once, and you can search by
domain name, username and package.
- FIX: Fixed a bug with deleting and recreating SQL
databases.
- FIX: You no longer can create email users, aliases
or lists with the same name.
- NEW: You can now preview shared IP sites at
http://66.206.5.255/USERNAME, where USERNAME is the main username for the
account.
- FIX: Fixed a slight bug with shared secure
directory creation. If you notice any problems, delete your directory and
create it again.
- NEW: E-mail mailing lists are now available for use. You
must edit your packages and enable the E-Mail Mailing Lists function to make
them available to your customers.
- NEW: Shared secure directories are now available for
setup through the customer control panel. You must edit your packages and
enable the Shared Secure function to make them available to your customers.
- NEW: You can now easily submit a request for a secure
certificate CSR for one of your sites or subdomains.
- NEW: You can now set the "catchall" e-mail destination
for your sites. Mail that is sent to your account that does not have a user
set up for it will go to the set catchall mail.
- FIX: Fixed some bugs that were causing secondary DNS to
not update quickly on subsequent DNS updates (for example, if the DNS zone was
modified, or a site was deleted and recreated with a new IP address).
- FIX: Fixed a few bugs with SQL database creation that
were causing some databases not to be created. This does not affect any
currently created databases.
- FIX: Fixed a minor bug regarding quotas.
- UPDATE: Updated AWStats to the latest version.
- FIX: Fixed bugs in the customer control panel that
occurred when two sites on separate servers had the same username.
- NEW: Made a change in the application isolation for
website applications (for sites that run ASP, PHP, ASP.NET, or any combination
thereof). All applications have been converted from "in-process" to
"isolated", so that one rogue application does not affect the entire server.
This should not affect website performance negatively; if it does, please
submit a trouble ticket and we'll get the site working for you again.
- FIX: Fixed a minor bug when modifying a DNS zone.
- NEW: E-mail users and aliases can now also be created
from the reseller control panel.
- FIX: Fixed a bug in the File Manager that prevented
changing permissions for files with spaces in their names.
- NEW: In trouble tickets to technical support from
resellers, you can now specify which domain name the trouble ticket refers to,
and also escalate customer trouble tickets to technical support.
- NEW: You can now use the File Manager's permission
change area to lock down directories from access via the web. This is useful,
for example, if you have database files in a directory that you need to write
to using scripting on your website, but not allow access to the files from the
web.
- FIX: Fixed a minor bug in the site style that
caused the file manager's upload page to use the default style.
- FIX: Fixed problems with the custom errors pages,
which should now work properly.
- NEW: Updated the FAQ with a large number of
questions involving e-mail, DNS setup and databases.
- FIX: The main login logo now shows properly for
domains on shared IPs.
- FIX: Fixed a problem with changing packages for
specific accounts.
- FIX: Fixed a problem with creating SQL Server
databases smaller than 5 MB. For those that received errors before when
creating your database, try it now and it should work properly.
- FIX: Fixed a problem with creating parked domains
from the reseller panel; parked domains created did not show up in "List
Parked Domains" on the reseller panel afterward.
- FIX: Dates are now properly displayed for customer
notices.
- FIX: Fixed a problem with e-mail aliases that was
causing them not to work; all aliases should now work properly. If you still
experience problems, try deleting the alias in question and recreating it.
- FIX: Fixed a problem with the DNS server that was
causing it not to respond on anything but the base IP address (66.206.26.1).
It should now respond on all IPs. This was causing a problem with those that
created their own name servers.
- NEW: You can now choose to leave a copy of e-mail
sent to forwarded e-mail addresses in the original e-mail account.
- FIX: Changed the "change permissions" portion of
the File Manager to also set permissions for the ASPNET user if ASP.NET is
enabled for a site. When ASP.NET is first enabled, only read permissions are
originally set for the ASP.NET user.
- FIX: Changed e-mail "redirection" to "forwarding"
in the e-mail users display, as it was confusing.
- FIX: Fixed the e-mail aliases so that blank
aliases would not be entered; this caused a problem with deletion, which
should no longer occur.
- NEW: You can now enable ASP, PHP, and ASP.NET
scripting and create a CGI-BIN directory when you first create an account.
- NEW: You can now set which customer panel
functions you want enabled for each package you create.
- NEW: You can now have your customers' trouble
tickets and trouble ticket replies e-mailed to you. The settings for this
function are under Update Contact Information.
- NEW: The type of IP address that packages use
(dedicated or shared) is now displayed when creating an account.
- NEW: Added a FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions).
This page will be updated with frequently asked questions regarding the
reseller panel and the reseller program.
- NEW: Added this Recent Updates page. Any updates
to the control panel will be noted here. The support notices page will include
the last modified date of this page, so you can be up to date on any new
updates and additions to the panel.
- FIX: Creating a subdomain called "www" is no
longer allowed (the www subdomain is automatically set up upon account
creation and is unnecessary).
